AI, Machine Learning & Data Science — Visiting Lecturer
I bring applied AI research and production experience into the classroom — guest lectures, visiting lecturer roles, and corporate training in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data Science for Sri Lankan universities and institutes.
Where This Comes From
Sri Lankan universities and private campuses — among them KIU University, APIIT, ESOFT, SLIIT, and CICRA — regularly advertise for Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data Science lecturers and visiting lecturers. I was selected as a Lecturer Candidate at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in 2025, and I combine that academic track with a decade in enterprise software and an active applied AI research agenda at Knovik — the kind of practitioner background that complements a department's existing academic staff rather than duplicating it.

How I Approach Teaching
Research-grounded, not slideware
Course material draws on published and accepted research — EdgeTal, Digital Learning Passport, and attribution-stability work — rather than generic AI course templates.
Industry-connected
As Founder & CEO of Knovik, I bring current production AI engineering practice — not a purely theoretical view of the field — into lectures and student projects.
Mentorship-first
I've mentored undergraduate interns from the University of Vavuniya and the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, and shared technical expertise through webinars during my time at WSO2 — teaching has been part of how I work, not a new direction.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take on visiting or guest lecturer roles at Sri Lankan universities?
Yes. I'm open to guest lectures, single sessions, and part-time visiting lecturer roles in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data Science, alongside my work as Founder & CEO of Knovik.
What subjects can you lecture on?
Artificial intelligence and machine learning fundamentals, data science and statistics, large language models and generative AI, agentic systems and multi-agent orchestration, NLP, and research methodology, grounded in applied research and production systems rather than slides alone.
Are you available for a single guest lecture, or only semester-long visiting roles?
Both. A one-off guest lecture or workshop session is often the easiest starting point, and a number of my peers deliver these as part of ongoing university relationships. Semester-long visiting lecturer arrangements are also something I'd consider for the right subject and schedule.
Do you supervise undergraduate or postgraduate research projects?
I've mentored undergraduate interns from the University of Vavuniya and the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, and I'm open to supervising or co-supervising student research and capstone projects in AI, machine learning, or data science topics that align with my research areas.
Can you deliver corporate AI training instead of an academic lecture?
Yes — corporate and executive AI training sessions for teams that need a practical, non-academic introduction to generative AI, agentic systems, or AI strategy are a common alternative to a university lecture format.
